New bike

Today (well, Monday) was pretty cool - woke early, worked on my essay (half way done, making good progress) then I got a call to go and see the new bike which arrived from the shop in Nagoya yesterday.
When we opened the box and looked in it was like 'wow'. 15 minutes later and we were ready for the first ride. Given it was about 2 degrees it was not a long one, but pretty fun. We spent some time adjusting the seat and handlebars, now it's pretty well perfect.
So how is it? Well, it's a bike. A pretty special bike, but just a bike. The important thing is training and motivation. They are not things you can buy. So next week - back on the winter trainer (unless it still hasn't snowed.... eh eh eh).

The duck's nuts

I'm sitting at home with a slightly sore throat. Probably from sitting inside in dry air then cycling outside.
More? )

I'll just gargle some salt water and I'm sure my throat will be fine.

WTF

Last ride for the year. Maybe

Peter and I rode up Mt Hakodate this afternoon. Twice. It was a really warm sunny Autumn day, we got to the bottom and found that the road was closed to cars. Bliss! Cruised to the top, enjoyed the view, blazed down and at the gate, we both were like 'hey let's do that again!'. So we did.

It was my first ride for 2 weeks, tried not to overextend myself, felt good.

I'm trying to sort out this journal and work out ways of making this work, so it may change a bit.

Edit: I added this picture of David, me and Peter in the Hakodate Challenge Run in October
